Looks good. I don't think it will be useful for aquarium photography, (due to reflection?). Will be extremely useful for still life and maybe night macro photography. Not sure if insects will be affected or "frightened" by the lights.

I was considering a long time to get one until I realized it can't be mounted on a 72mm lens...

How much is it? Have you tried it in the outdoor? Is the LED bright enough?

it is a ring light actually..and not a ring flash... so the led's are on constantly...
you have to option to switch it off.. i saw it today..it was reallllly bright..so its good..
    and it is also rechargable...kekeke...

Goondoo.. of course its not for fish la...haha...oh.. and also...they have the 72 -77mm version out now.. price is pretty good!! i was considering the 72-77mm one actually..but then i figured its better if i can mount it on my camera.. anyway with this price if the small one works well..i'll buy the big one as wel..haha... can even use it as lighting for other purposes...so it works well..

I will try it outdoors when i get it next week of course..kekeke
how much ah??? between $100-150..i think it is pretty reasonable.

I saw it the other day at Orient, what was surprising was it's a Singapore product and the price was really affordable.

Maybe they will pause and look at the blinding LED light...

    Looks good though.

    Billy,
Orient currently got no stock for the RL1200, but they have the ring flash digimacro 6000i
Price is $85.00. Not sure if I heard correctly I searched cs buy/sell and come up with this thread.

I am, however, looking for something that will not be utilizing the flash bracket. I will be using my SB800 together with the ring mah...

yah... thats the good thing i find..that it is not actually a flash but a light... so on top of the extra light you get.. you can flash the subject with whatever you like...and what ever direction... the flexibility is what attracts me.

I also feel its more for still life macro. Cannot imagine zooming this onto a fish or insect... high chance they get spooked. But will be good if able to. Can replce fill flash perhaps?

Yah. Think only still-life fill flash.
Fish photography? Hmmm... The amount of light inside must be way way way way more than the leds outside. Possible?

That's why the amount of light inside the tank must be more than the outside, so that the problem of reflection is not a problem.
