Neighbourhood butterfly shot 20/4/08

Bought the camera down to the neighbourhood "jalan-jalan" (walk about) as no time for a long outing, I am surprised to find quite a few species of butterfly around the neighbourhood. The down side is that I got many puzzle and curious stares from the passer-by wondering why this guy braces himself under the hot sun chasing a few flying insets

Hi Aquaculture, the photos were taken using Tamron 90mm macro DI lens.

Hahaha, nothing escape the master's eyes. The dead malayan lascar was picked up from the ground. It is for record keeping. I will never harm a butterfly just for a photo shooting.

It is unfortunate that it was dead, else the photo could be better, at least more real . This species seems to have two distinct little "bum", each at the joint of the segments.

Don't worry, just part of the life cycle however it puzzled me how an almost pristine specimen would just die. Normally, I just find bits and pieces of the butterfly on the ground, but never whole. Could be due to fogging?

No idea. At first I thought is was the usual suspect, tree lizard as the ML had two slightly discoloured patches at her back, which I thought were its wounds. When I took a closer look, it did not seem to be so.

Excellent! Didn't know that the long awaited on the list to be shot lime butt happens to be very near my place. Incredible.

Nice shots Loke. The first 2 shots seems to have some wierd artifact on the background. Maybe it's too much sharpening or cropping?
