I have been preparing my 2" tank to keep CRS.
Been running the water for the past 2 weeks, also been setting in some plants snails etc. This week I tried putting in some sakuras to test. They all look very healthy and ok when I put them in, but after a day or 2 i noticed they started to be furry around the head, eyes, legs and feelers. (Please refer to my pix below) Then one by one they start to die.

Has this happened to any one before? Can Anyone please save my shrimps? How do I prevent this from happening again? Thanx in advance!

    An Update:

I managed to find some answers here: http://www.shrimp-diseases-online.com/watermold.htm

Now I just need to find some anti fungal medicine as suggested by the above article namely:
    CILEX by Brustmann
    Fungol by JBL

Will update progress for the benefit of any future victims from these evil mushroom attacks.

    Torque: Only 2 weeks.

went to C328 and polyart, they do not have it in stock

Now I'm questioning my self, whether cure it or just let it die and get new one

Normally 2 weeks is a short time to start stocking your tank with fauna, most of us cycle our tanks for close to 4-6 weeks before we introduce shrimps/fishes into our tank slowly.

Though shadow has also indicated having the same problems which could lead to a "batch" infection possibly.

Thanx for the tip torque. I am intending to keep CRS so these Sakuras are 'martyrs' as I test out the tank at different stages. I do intend to run the water for at least a month. I must confess that I am a bit impatient also :P

Anyway, I ended up buying "Anti-Fungus" by T3. Its part of their "Herbal Treatment Series" that uses Chinese Herbs.

I applied one dose yesterday, and one this morning. Supposed to do it for 5-7 days.
However saw the death of my second last Sakura this morning, maybe it was too late for him or her by the time I intervened.

However I noticed the last one standing seem more alive and eating well. Hope this one will survive. Will continue to update.

    Shadow: Are your Sakuras dying?

Update: 3rd dose of "Anti-Fungus" by T3 (1 dose a day), 'Furriness' seems to be receding and my last remaining Sakura very alive. Seems to be working very well.

I counter 9 out of 10 still alive. The missing one either hiding or die. The strange thing is the furry thing seems to be receding and I didn't do or add anything. Is that possible?

I am not sure, maybe the evil mushroom spores died out.

After 4 days of meds, I am glad to report my final remaining sakura martyr has fully recovered! So I went out yesterday to get a few more friends to keep him company, they all look pretty happy today.

Guess this takes us to the end of our little fungi adventure
