I remember during the photo workshop, Benny mentioned possible much cheaper alternatives to slave flashes from Canon.
I am using STE-2 and have 1 unit of Canon 420EX.

Can't remember what is it.. anybody can help?

There are cheaper alternative of flashes where you cannot control the output of the flash light unit. Either that or you can put mirrors to deflect the main flash towards the body. Reflectors?

I can only conclude so much.

    Let somebody else take over.

    Cheers!

    Yorky,
I got one of those slave flash, but still can't get it to work properly with canon system.
The problem is, you can't control the output, you always get full blast.
Have to trial and error cover with plastic or paper to control the output.
I give up and bought 2 more 420ex instead.

If you want, you can take my slave to play around with.

If you used paper, you should have been able to 'reduce' the power. Also, put further away, but watch the direction and reflection.

For these type of flash, always buy the small weak ones if you are using for photo tanks. The folks at the shop will always suggest the big powerful one as other photographers' application are usually different from ours.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

    Hi Richard,
    Thanks for your generous offer.
If you can't get it to work properly for you, it will be less likely for me as well.
Might have to hunt around for another 420EX then..
