mmm... thought I asked once but not sure got any replies. Let's try again:

Does any one know if the wood shrimp is native (i.e. indigenous) to Singapore or the southern Malay peninsular?

    thanx.

there's still a few wood shrimps left at c328. small in size. u have to look deep into the tank cos they hide in some of the leaves and around the filters.

If you enter the shop, they are in the tanks on the right hand side. The shrimps in the left hand side tanks are Yamatos. The wood shirmps tanks are above the water plants and it's the middle and right most tank. The tank is full of fishes so you have to look.

    Good Luck!!

oh yea, the wood shrimps are endemic to the region with several different species. i don't know how many there are but they all use the same method of feeding - filter-feeding with their fan-like apparatus. the usual species u see is atyopsis moluccensis but there's more. try the following site for info.

    Dave's Decapod Site

p.s : the site has some info on other shrimps u commonly see in the aquarium, like the caridina species (i.e. the yamatos and malayans and so on.)

morpheus, they're filter feeders so try feeding them a powdered suspension. try those powder foods that they feed to fish fry.

What i normally see is that those lfs put part of those filter wood inside the tank with these shrimps and they automatically like to stay around there. Guess they like to clear the food off there??
