    Hi guys!!!
Really need your help! My community tank was infected with ICH about 7 days ago and the most seriously affected were the clown loaches.
I used "SUPER Slime, White Spot & Velvet Away" and the other fishes have now recovered (about 3 days ago).
However, the clown loaches are still affected and I do not know what to do. I am sure that the water is now disinfected but why is the ICH cycle on my clowns not passed as yet? I thought the standard ICH cycle was to be about 5 days?
Please help. Should I isolate the clowns? Salt bath? Or just persist with the SUPER treatment and hope for the best?
    Thanks,
    MetaSard

to treat ich, you'll need to keep medicating your tank for at least 3wks.
if you intend to use salt, use 1 tablespoon for every 5 gallons of water.
    refer here for more info.

    no.
stick with either salt or white spot medication. never mix both methods.
i prefer using salt for white spot.
either way, you'll need to carry out water change every 3-4 days and add salt or medication back to recommended dosage. at the end of the treatment, carry on with the water change regime to slowly dilute the salt or medication.

Metallic Sardine, I've just read some article in an aquarium magazine. To treat ich on the clown loach, chemicals are a no no. Instead raise ur tank temp 2 28degree or higher n maintained it 4 10 days. Clown Loach has no protective scales on it's body so it's very succeptible 2 ich.

Would running a UV after the filter output help to eradicate the bugs that are free swimming?

28 degrees will only kill your fish faster
the temperatures required to kill ich are so high most fish cannot take it
    use salt instead

28 degrees will kill my fish faster? hmmm I think that statement needs to be qualified a bit.

Some people recommend that the temperature be raised, but thats more to accelerate the life cycle of ich than to kill it... you still need to medicate, or use salt.

I pushed the temp of my tank to 31c and the fish are ok. Using a combination of heat and salt, the ICH is slowly leaving but one of the clowns is still slightly speckled. However, I do not intend to keep the temp there forever, maybe after the ICH leaves, I will maintain it at about 29c

    correct
so if you accelerate the life cycle of ich without using anything to kill it, you'll make it worse

next, 31 degrees is probably not enough to wipe out ich on it's own
but if you're comfortable with the idea of using heat alone, it's worth a shot
