If you intend to breed shrimps, it is best if you keep them alone in a species only tank. otherwise no matter what fish you keep them with the chances of shrimps surviving is very, super, ultra low.

Yes they do. I have 4 and they've wiped out the cherrys. My Malayans are still ok.I still see small ones, that means they managed to survive. Maybe because they aren't as brightly colored?
Fish I've tried that do great with shrimp are pangio type loaches and boraras.
you can keep with ottocinclus too
looks like we cannot have best of both world..
You can give it a try, there are folks with success stories of shrimplets living alongside with celestial pearl danios. Just try to provide lots of hiding place and food for every critters in your tank.
My Sakura shrimplets survived in a heavily planted tank with 8 galaxy.

i think the key would be how much hiding space you have in your tank.

given that cpd are egg layers, I am worried that they may be mutually destructive. fish eat baby shrimps, and while adult shrimps eat eggs
I have 10, saw 1 of them going after my Yamoto's eggs even though Yamoto is larger and carried the eggs.
If you want to keep fishes and shrimps together, make sure you have lots of mosses for shrimps to hide. Half of my 2 feet tank are filled with mosses, that's why I can have guppies, tetras, rummy nose, cory, stay peacefully with hundreds of malayan shrimps...
Ive had 10 CPD's together with my Cherry shrimp. The cherries dont seem to be too bothered by the CPD's. Heres a list of what i have in my tank.
15-20 Cherry Shrimps (they are all over the place, cant count properly
02 Yamatos
2 SAE
10 CPD
9-10 Malayan Shrimp
