hey guys, woke up this morning to find two thin flaps of skin hanging off the edges of my apisto's mouth i had thought it was worms or flukes, but closer inspection showed it to be flakes of skin.

Anyone knows what's going on?! Weird.. other than the two flakes of skin he seems perfectly healthy, eating greedily and everything.

And it looks really quite grotesque

it is due to the part of the mouth being exposed out of water for too long. He should be aright. add some salt as precaution. It is stressed too.

Can you try to take some photos of the mouth condition? It could be a case of Columnaris disease or bacteria infection.

That's great! Hope this is what's happened to the fish,,, he's quite a character, would hate for anything to happen to him.

i've tried to take photos, but the little guy keeps swimming away when it sees the camera. I don't think its columnaris though, i've been looking at photos on the web and it looks nothing like that.

Anyhow, the skin flake on one side has dropped off which is a good thing, i guess?
