Why not? The ones at the LFS are usually emersed anyway. Emersed ET have the spear shape leaves.

This is the difference between the two:

    E.Tenellus:

    E.Tenellus v. Tenellus:

Can see the emersed form in the e.tenellus pictures, but as for the e.tenellus v.tenellus..the leaves are very spear like even in submerged form.

It helps with algae later on, although it doesnt prevent it. Plus it makes it easier to establish them in a tank this way before adding livestock and water.

    Hi,

this is Heiko Bleher and I just read this tenellus-thread. Firest of all I acome from a plant_family (bleheri, heikobleheri, osiris, opacus, uruguayensis, horemanni, etc.) - thirs generation (so I am not only a fish collector as many people think).
    E. tenellus I believe was also my mother who introduced it into the hobby in the early 1950s and we collected it in large quantities in Mato Grosso (Rio Guapore) were it lives MOST OF THE TIME out of the water - that is emers.

Tropica, and may other plant companies I know, grow them ONLY emers and sell the to the shops potted EMERS, so you should know that.

Have also a look at some of my authentic biotopes -

    All the very best

    Heiko Bleher
    Best regards,
    Heiko Bleher
