hi all, while i was picking out snails i noticed that there are white flat worms on the tank glass... they were moving... but easily removed by crushing using my finger..

i have read thru the forum and found out that it is caused by excess feeding.. but.. the problem is i dont have any fish inside except 9 ottos and some shrimps... may i know how to stop the worms from reappearing?? only saw a few today.. am worried that it might multiply and spread..
    pls advise thanks

have you been feeding at all? If you have, you can probably stop all feeding as your otos and shrimp should be able to live pretty happily on the algae in the tank.

oh you might also wanna add a bit of salt to your tank... say 1 tablespoon/10G (considered a mild dosage)

    leave it alone
they'll go away in no time
this happens to new tanks, usually

white/beige, sometimes a tiny bit reddish? flat? max about 7mm size?

got them in my 2 shrimp tanks recently. suspect came from riccia tighted to driftwood that i put in, and moved from one tank to another. have been removing them whenever i spot one - killed on sight!

saw same stuff in pet safari's big aro tank, after my experience started. asked one of the staff and was told it's a kind of pesticide... possibily came from plants.

anyway, 'killing on sight' worked cos hardly see them these days.

(these're unlike those small tiny white worms that fish will eat.)

you can try an easy method for removal
tie a string to some raw meat, leave for 1 hr, pick it up with all the 'worms' attached

Hmmm... sounds interesting. Have you tried this yourself or is it something you picked up from the web?

Maybe just introduce a betta into the tank to clear them up

r these flatworms the same as mine ? there r so small , their body length is as thick as 1 strand of hair, maybe even thinner. less than 1 cm in size ? i tries using my tweezer to pull them out and all i ever did was split them in half. r these worms harmful ? right now all i have is oto and SAE . see them eating all the hair algae so fast , but will they eat the worms in the process?

oh and btw , where do u buy your algae wafer ? petmart got sell ?
here fishy fish fishy . here shirmpy shirmpy here is my noobie tank(3wk)
