whoa Jeffery, it's been a while and I see why.
You are saving it all for one big beautiful butterfly show.
I really can't pick one favorite as they are all so nice.
    Well done

    Nice shot Jeffery!
I think the the twany shots is the best.

It could be a matter of taste, but I think the images are slightly over sharpen though.

    Eugene,
Crispy sharp. You went to shoot with Jeffery?
What's the substrate on the ground? Looks wet and slimy.
    Jeffery,
How come the background so pinky on the last shot? In fact I like this shot better, the pink background set off the contrast against the green on the wings
Where is this place? Some secret location?

Jeffery, your shots are better and also much more parallel then mine.

Richard, we didn't shoot together. Substrate in my shot are stones, pebbles with mud and algae. Had to get myself wet to nail this shot.

You see pink in Jeffery's picture? My monitor shows a creamy orange. Should not be pink. Its the colour of the sand.

Not secret location. You have been there as well. I believed I went with you once.

love the last two shots! and some others as well.

you guys never try my expodisc yesterday, is very useful for custom WB in situations like the last pix.

I shoot in raw, so i could have adjusted to WB. Never thought of that though. Thanks for reminding me

although I also shoot in RAW and adjust WB there, it is never as satisfactory as on the spot custom WB, otherwise I wouldn't have spend the $$ on gray cards and expodisc

I wish i had the luxury of doing custom white balance when on the field. I did toy with the idea of using expodisc at one point of time having try on field, realise don't have sufficient time to manually custom white balance and shoot. i believe Jeff didn't use it not due to the price but some underlying reasons.

Some don't stay long enough for you. It's either a record shot or 1 year later then you get to see it again. I believe the more common species are able to do so & it will surely enhance the good photo great.

under the scorching sunlight, the sand reflects the orange-yellowish hue actually easily corrected by a few methods widely used in PS.
    Cheers!

yes I do agree it is difficult to custom WB on the field. BTW I tried expodisc for my recent crab shoot, works great so no need to sink white card into the water any more

That will be god send isn't it! laminate white card, sink into water, custom WB. Shoot. If it can be done equally well with a expodisc i think it's really excellent. How i wish there is something good out on the field. Fast, easy, precise.

    Any suggestions?
    Cheers!

I think expodisc is already quite easy lah. just have to make it a routine.

WB keep changing due to lighting condition by time. Sometimes the sun get block just when you shoot. After recalibrating, the sun comes up & the butterfly flew away.

I've done using white card & i'm not particularly very keen having to keep doing the custom white balance.

I might just keep trying & see if it's worth all the trouble!

    Cheers!
