Placing driftwood is dependent on the size and shape of the wood itself. Go round shopping for 'nice' wood and plan the arrangment mentally.

Always think in terms of triangles. And not a regular triangle but an irregular one and it applies 3D.

No idea if you know what I am talking about.

But anyway, if you planning to mix moss and riccia, not a good idea. The combi not really favourable. Why don't you try to go moss with java fern and crypts. Not many people have done a tank centered around SEA waterscape. This means more for barbs and rasboras, not tetras.

You need to create a focus. Try not to create the focus in the middle of the tank. It usually looks better slightly off centre.

The focus can be a piece of driftwood, a plant or a gap.

Drift wood can be used to guide the eyes towards the focus. Example, the large driftwood, one on the left sloping downwards to the right, the other on the left sloping downwards towards the right. The 2 slopes point towards a space between them in which you could place a large plant, driftwood, or simply leave it blank.

You can also use colour, grain, texture, size, shape to create contrast. Examples:
    - a red plant framed by some green or orangey plants in the background.
    - a large echinodorus in the middle of a sea of crypts.
    - the large leaves of the lotus backed by the fine leaves of Rotala indica.

With wood, you'll be using shape, grain and size mainly.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
