I'd use the existing tank water for the temporary tank. No feeding and keep the fish in a dark place.
Hi all,
My existing tank is abit small, so I am going to set up another tank to house my fauna for about a week while i vac the soil which has been infested with BGA since sep 07.
Peter has generously shared his insights and I will modify my fert regime accordingly once this is done.
My fauna list includes.
4x boraras brigatte
2x nerite snails.
However, the issue plaguing me is if a tank hasnt been cycled, would it be able to sustain's fishes well being?
Some stuff i plan to do or have already done.
Temp tank
-10L tank with 1 airpump. No filter.
1- Set up temp tank with aged water; 1 week.
2- Net faunas into ziplock bag with existing tank waters and aclimate them in temp tank.
3- Use syringe and introduce 30ml temp tank water to ziplock bags for a period of 4 hours at intervals of 30mins.
4- After 4 hours, net faunas out and introduce them to temp tank.
old tank
a- Off hang on filter.
b- Cut runners of HG and remove from soil
c- Vacumn soil; I am not sure how long the vac will take as i am afraid i may end up with less than 20% water once im done. 80% water change should be too much.
d- Back breaking exercise and replant all HG.
e- Perform % of water change and restart hang of fliter.
Mid week
- siphon uneaten food to prevent ammonia spikes.
After a week
- repeat steps 2-4 for the existing tank
I am open to other conservative ideas to do this with 0 casualties. I believe this is very useful for major rescapes as well and will benefit bros whose hands become itchy after awhile lol.
Thanks in advance again.
