I find limewood diffuser ($2.00) better for DIY CO2 than the inverted bell. They give out tiny bubbles which will allow the CO2 to dissolve quickly in the water too. Unfortunately, they get choked and turn black over time but you can sandpaper it.
For me, overhead filtration is a no-no for planted.
Like your Lobelia cardinalis.
SuperRay...it seems to me that there is no base fertilizer added? If no...then you need to insert fertilizers like root monster in order for your plants to grow...as the tank matures you can add liquid fertilizer at 1/2 the dosage for a safe start.
The colours of the plants in the tank seems to be a bit dull...properly mal-nutrition? The rosette plant seems to be planted a bit too deep...you need to see the crown of the plant or else the plant might rot away...

i tried b4 diy co2 doesnot have the pressure to push trough, i still thinking how to diffuse the co2 more efficitionly. ( placing co2 at the pump? will work better ?)
SuperRay..if you can afford it...get the external reactor from Chan..does not require high pressure I think...(Best to ask Chan for confirmation just in case I am wrong). CO2 dissolve rate is almost 100%

it's still possible imo, connect the powerhead to the reactor and then the outlet of the reactor to the overhead filter.[:]
No no no....the splashing caused while the water enters the overhead filter will cause major loss in CO2 concentration (DIY already CO2 not so much..loss means nothing much left?)...unless no splashing lor. []

The powerhead output to the filter media will definately have some form of splashing. That's where the co2 is lost most. That's why overhead filters are not recomended.
hi, your current setup has the co2 bell at the inlet of your filter, that's not good cuz water with dissolved co2 will enter filter where it gets aerated and co2 is then lost. should put it near outlet. and there is gaseous exchange of co2 and o2 between any water and air boundary so got splash or not, as long as water runs thru your filter, it constantly loses co2 and gains o2 to regain normal dissolved gas proportions, only real solution is to seal up your filter such that air cannot go in or out. that's why cannister filters don't lose co2, cuz sealed up. another suggestion: I tried bell before, what I used was those cough medicine bottles, cut off the top, invert, poke a hole at the bottom, stick tube thru, get a suction cup with "eye" at the end, tie with string thru "eye" and around bottle and tube, and you'll get a small compact bell which isn't too obvious in the tank!
