    Hi all

Intend to go Japan for a week and bring maybe 2-3 lenses. I need a haversack to put in some other travel stuff such as travel book etc....Bringing Flash, 24-70, 17-35 and maybe T180 with my D3

Looking at some of the bags out there, a tamrac Adventure 7 should fit just fine.

Does anyone has one to lent/rent? I do not want to buy one as I am not sure how often I will use it.

Mods, Not sure where to post this, but I guess most shooters will be looking at this section. Do move if necessary and many apologies if so.

Alamak, you don't have to leave her alone.
An Aquarium is in a shopping centre or something like that.
Nice environment and you can always kind of "wander" into it...
And you just have to visit at least even if she doesn't allow you to buy any fish!

Jeff, are you serious about the tamrac 7? i don't see how all the walking will make you feel comfortable with all the 'gears' in your bag. Shopping bags on the left, camera on the right, still got to take care of wife.

Don't torture yourself on a holiday trip. Unless it's a pure photography trip, will i encourage all the gears & a backpack.(Which i did a 4D3N cambodia pure photography) It's going to be very taxing on our body.

You have the reporter 400 AW right? i think it will be great for walking around, not forgetting your heavy D3 & a few other lenses to add on.

The first 2-3 days might be relatively okay to carry on your shoulders but by the end of the week, you will be slave to your gears. Do re-consider your pack system, a harness, hip support bag might save you from the misery.

I just re worked my bag system for the 14 days NZ trip, i'm sure i'll enjoy the holiday more without the sore on the shoulders!

    Cheers!

i have the stealth reporter 300.... i thought a haversack is better than a sling bag....

not sure about the mini-trekker.. does anyone has one to lend me?

If we're not physically up for the beating, a backpack carried over a span of 1 week or longer might result in a nasty strain on the shoulders. Both of them. It will become a drag to shoot after that.

I'm still puzzled with the load system done by camera bags, they're not meant for carrying long hours like mountain packs, which are very comfortable with load. I might say the pricing might be a big difference, are there better bags out there for long duration carrying?

Backpackers/mountaineers invest in high quality bags, some costing >1k whereas photographers invest in high quality lens, camera. Wish there will be something in the middle.

    Hmm...
    Cheers!

well, it's not just the weight.. if the bag is too bulky, it's also a problem. Remember the thread pertaining to crowded trains in Japan? if i carry too big a bag, i may encounter problems as well

You might have more problems with a backpack then a side sling. Either way you will have pros & cons, got to decide which you really want. For my case, it's enjoy the holiday & take care of Gf when overseas, ranking top against photography. If it's pure photography trip, top ranking will to get 'the' shot & not forgetting the company.
    Cheers!
