    Hi guys,
I am going to change the medication method to the salt method for treating my clown loaches for white spot.
May I know what is the correct temperature (must raise temperature right?) to set my tank at? I just bought a Atman heater (good anot?) and it is now keeping the tank at about 32.5c. Is that ok?
Thanks a mil....my loaches are suffering and looking very gaunt but thank goodness they still look active....the white spots have been around for about 2 weeks now....

Temperature should be fine around 30-32..Just be patient though..never try to up the dosage when you see the white spots increase..it will only kill the fish...it takes time for the worm to leave the fish body in which case is its only vulnerable time. Good luck

no need to up the temperature at all
the reason why americans advocate heat is because it's cooler over there
at 27~28 the life cycle of ich is the same as >30
unless you intend to use the heat to kill the ich on contact WITHOUT any meds
in which case 32.5 is what people say they've used
i don't recommend it because your fish will not take it
more often than not because the oxygen level is decreased

    DEA,
Thanks for your advice. So what do you think is the best way to get rid of the ICH without medication? I have been using SUPER White Spot medication for 2 weeks now and am worried that my clown loaches cannot take the medicated water any longer.
They look alright, active, eating and all but with the information I read about clowns being very very sensitive to medication, I thought I should discontinue the meds and start with something less damaging like heat and salt.
So what should I do hah? Just salt and leave the water at room temp (which is at about 28c)?
    Thanks for your help bro.

    leave it at rtp
    it's fine
salt SHOULD be fine for clown loaches
i haven't tried personally, you might want to do a web search
the normal dosage is 1 tbsp per 20l (15ml per 20l) which is less than 0.1%

Do the 1 teaspoon per 5 gallon dosage rate. Think temperature of 28 - 30 is okay..Singapore you know lah...no air-con..damn hot..no need heater liao..LOL..Monitor fish...usually they seem to get worst (I mean more spots appear lah..not die..) One thing you can do is to do more water changes (2-3 days about 20 - 30 percent) Remember to replace the amount of salt level back when doing water changes.

Make sure you dilute your previous medication before starting salt treatment...(Do more water changes for the coming days.)
