    Hi folks,

I have a planted arowana tank. Just wondering, will Fei Fengs eat my plants?

I'm interested to introduce them to my tanks because they are big algae eaters. smaller algae eaters like otto may be eaten by my aro.

Large tank with a few tough plants and pieces of bogwood, sandy substrate.
Feeding Herbivore: algae and home prepared veg: lettuce, cucumber, peas. May nibble on plants.

    Lance,

I'm sharing my experience here, but the decision is your own.

I'm have otos, SAEs and malayan shrimps in my planted arowana tank. My arowana ate one of my SAEs recently, by accident (See this thread). But before and after that incident, I have not seen him make a concerted effort to hunt and eat the SAE's and otos. The otos and SAEs instinctly stay away from him from the first day. The malayan shrimp have gone into hiding in the dense undergrowth. The plants provide ample hiding from the arowana.

My feel is that as long as the arowana is well-fed, he has no reason to go after the other fishes. Most predator's, unlike man, do not kill for fun. They hunt and kill to feed themselves or their young. They will also try to do it with the least expenditure of energy for amount of sustenance gained.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
