    is it true or false that if there is we do not use co2 there will not be BBA in our tank cos BBA is cause by unregular co2 output. thanks

    since you have brought this up, would be interesting if some bros with low tech dosing excel are currently experiencing BBA. This may partially confirm this observation.

    i can second that. My low tech is pretty much algae free too. Maybe a little every now and then, but nothing that my otos and SAEs can't handle.

    Tong,

    I guess shadow,storm and evo have all shared their valuable observations here. Hope they've answered your question Btw, my friend is running a tank with low tech plants but is using pressurised co2. And the only algae he has is ..."your right" =>BBA. loads of them infact.

    BBA can take up carbonate from water.

    seems to be correct then, if we don't put in extra co2, those co2 given out by the fish will not be enough to triggle BBA

    My non-CO2 2ft is suffering from BBA due to too much light.

    This sums up my experience..

    http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ad.php?t=33150

    But after cleaning and all...i added like 7 BBA munchers Yamato shrimp in there and trimmed my plants and then only feed once a week...
    Conclusion.. 90% gone.

    Just to share.... Most of my plants are low maintenance with one or two stem plants. I used to dose Excel every other day with no BBA but somehow the stem plants don't look good after sometime. About 2weeks back i decided to pump CO2 using an external reactor at 1 bubble every 2 sec 24/7 and a week later... I can see BBAs growing on the wood!!

    Don't understand why cause the reason why i pump 24/7 at 1 bubble every 2sec is so that the CO2 is stable all the time. Everything i do is the same except for the pumping of CO2. Hope to hear your views.

    Well for starters aqyarius photosynthesis is reversed at night, so it wont be the same.

    Just to add, by no means am i experienced at keeping algae at bay, utterly hopeless to be honest. But i observed that i had no BBA untill i started adding CO2. Then it sort of took off. Just my 2 cents

    my first black neon tetra tank was full of BBA as it was near the window with no Co2. tore it down after 1 year and moved on to cichlids.
    sunlight = BBA ?
