Video of my 2ft Planted Shrimp Tank
Hi bro, how big i the fish? does it disturb your shrimps?
Hi Robert, think it's around the size of my adult Yamato, did not really measure it's lenght. It is quite a peaceful fish and I have never seen it disturb my shrimps.
both looks like male..
the 2nd fish looks like in bad shape....
can take another photo of the 2nd fish showing the whole fish unblocked?
wanna look at the tummy area
Hi fireblade, I do agree with you that the 2nd don't looks good, and it seems a bit too colourful to be a female.
However, there are some difference between the 2 fish that made me suspect if it is a female. One thing is the black marking on the body, another is that the Pelvic fin is shorter, the female's body seems to be more rounded but then this could be due to the health problem... And one interesting thing is that both are usually together and follows each other around as you can see from the video...
It is very probable that it is a male fish instead (body too colourful, fins are colourless on the female). The torn fins seem to be the result of squabbles between males.
I also think it may not be healthy. The washed out area after the pectoral fins, and the black patch seem to indicate some health issues.
And I am pretty sure the fish will eat shrimps that will fit its mouth. Larger shrimps will depend on the character of the fish.
Both are males Merviso. Unfortunately, the females are hard to come by. I had what I originally thought were females, but all three of them developed male colouration in the tank I kept them in. So in the end I had an all-male tank..
The local LFS do not sell females either.
Fish.. Simply Irresistable
Back to Killies... slowly.
Hi Quixotic and stormhawk, thanks for the ID, guess I'm just too eager to mate them...
Anyway, the two of them follows each other around quite a lot, I suspect that they might be gay...
