Anyone knows how long ittakes for Chloroamine to go away from our tap water ?
I read Boiling and overnite doesn't help.
Do you mean Chloramine? I'm not 100% sure, but I think our local water doesn't use Chloramine. Only Chlorine. Anyway, quite a few of us do water changes straight from the tap, and don't seem to have any major issues.----------------

i say 'apparently' because the PUB website publishes that our water does contain chloramines
however, i've been changing water straight from the tap and i don't notice any fish dying
so my opinion is no
anyway, the reason chloramines are used is because it is much more stable that hypochlorous
thus it's not likely you'd be willing to wait for the amount of time it takes for chloramines to dissipate, if that were possible in the first place[:
if you're really worried, antichlorine will breakup chloramines
just be prepared for the ammonia that comes along with the dissociation
Errr... just to add on to that, make sure your anti-chlorine does treat chloramine as some cheapo anti-chlorine solutions may not. Its usually stated explicitly if it can handle chloramine since its a marketing bonus. I assume does that treat chloramine probably have something added to handle the ammonia problem.

hypo solution (na2s203, sodium thiosulphate) is used commonly as antichlorine
antichlorine WILL break up the chloramines, but leave the ammonia alone
some conditioners will suck up both chlorine and ammonia
but not antichlorine
try using Tetra Aquasafe. i use it whenever i change water and so far i've seen no ill effects on my fish or plants. conditions tap water for aquarium use and it works. good stuff i'd say.

Got a bottle NT$150 = S$8.00 which states it removed Chlorine and Chloramine.

I have gotten an official reply from PUB.
"We use chlorine or ozone for disinfection depending on the source of raw water supplied to the waterworks. However, one of our major waterworks adds chloramine during post treatment to maintain the residual in our water supply."
It seemed that some of us will get chloramine in our water.
