Thats ofcourse. You cant expect to get good quality out from lowly priced fish right. So if someone is up for good quality, he or she must always be ready to folk out...thats always the case.

It depends on what you are comparing at. It is not fair to compare a cheap and an expensive fish if they are different species.

I would recommend Betta channoides too. These guys are much more cheaper and imo more superior then Betta rubra in terms of colours.

Yup...i also think channoides look really good. Maybe can proceed to rubra after keeping channoides.

I agree...if you want to try Bettas, i think you should try taking care of betta splendens (Siamese fighting fish) first from a LFS. they are cheaper and therefore will not cost you much and your loss will not be too much if they die. C328 has some nice bettas which are nicer but still quite cheap... 2 - 10 dollars depending on the looks.

    Hope this helps

It's quite difficult to get wild betta splendens now a days. Most of them are hybrids or show bettas.

True.. But i think if one really wish to start on wild bettas, i still support keeping channoides.. Very easy to look after

Kept a few species and all i can say is no real difference in keeping them. But if must say, then there're only 2 differences I noted. 1 is having been successful in breeding them and 2 is pricing. Otherwise all are easy to keep.

i recomend betta splendens: halfmoon plakats because they are easy to care for due to short finnage
