I just got a hold on some erio sp from colorful and c328.
It happen to be thai, china & mato grosso base on what the seller said.
Can somebody inform me of any tips on growing this plant?
Also, uncle Richard told me that I must not make any major water change for it will make the erio melt.
Is it true or just a myth? cause I can't find any logic to this

    From my experience,

Cool temperature is preferable - around 27 degrees Celsius or lower is preferable.

High light is also required - 2.6-3.0 watt per gallon.

It needs a nutritious substrate(soil or base fertilizer), but be careful not to let the whole stem into the substrate if you are using soil - it will cause it to melt as the soil is acidic.

Some fertilizers have been known to cause it to melt - Some formers can elaborate on that.

It also does not appreciate premature pruning - it will actually kill the plant

Will add on if i think of anything else, other than that, have a fun and enjoyable time! Do share with us your experience and pictures!

    cheers,

Not sure about the ferts, but the water change bit sounds reasonable. There are several other plants which may melt when large-scale water changes are performed, due to the drastic changes in water chemistry... Crypts, for example.

My crypts must be bomb proof then. I change 40% weekly and they're growing strong still, always sprouting new leaves and existing ones last ages.

Back to your topic, large water changes would probably cause it to melt, its one of those plants inwhich for different people it can do different things. From personal experience it just about survived in my tank, i do 40% weekly as i said. I dosed Tropica Master grow once a fortnight, it never had much affect on it, didnt grow nor die from it. Temperature below 28/29oC is certainly a good point, prolonged periods over this and this plant will deterioate over time.
