    Hi all fish lovers,
This is my first time post message in this forum. HOpe that you all will provide comment or opinion to me.

I just started my 75 gallon fish tank. I have a filter, fan, 4x54W light installed. My tank temp is around 28 degree and pH 8. Any problem for this?

Recently, i realize a kind of algae (brown in colour) grown on leaves of my plant. Ps view attached photo. What kind of algae is this? Any solution? I do a weekly water change out (30%) but the water becomes unclear after 3 days. Any problem of this?

I think its brown diatom algae, very common in newly setups. Ottocinclus love to eat them, Maybe you could purchase some. It will also go away by itself once the tank matures.

    cheers,

    FF,
cant see clearly if its algae or anything for that matters. You can use the help request form in the sticky and fill up as much details as you can. It would help us with algae or unclear water issues.

I would personally hold off buying any ottos/shrimps to eat your algae. Because for new uncycled tanks, they have low mortality rates. So dont waste your money.

Let us know and update this thread.

    FF,

Firstly, please refrain from using sms ligo here on AQ, if you need to spell out "why" kindly do so instead of typing just "y".

secondly, i did indicate filling up the help request form, it will help several of us in helping you. If you need a fast reply instead of us engaging in a "ping pong", kindly do so.

It usually takes about 4-6 weeks for a tank to be mature, however we usually only change water once per week, at most twice a week.

    Density of plants ?

Looking at your details, your PH so high at 8 ? What substrate are you using? It is possible you may have green water.

What is your co2 levels in the tank ? 20 or 30ppm ?

i use JBL aquabasis plus and holland sand on top. The pH reading is 8. I use pH detector which is used in lab. This pH reading is same as the tap water. Any way to reduce the pH level?

Let me attached to photo of my tank. Any comments? I think the plant is not sufficient. I didnt measure the CO2 ppm in the tank. But, should be around 1-2 bubble per second.

Tank looks good with nice growth. I am not familiar with jbl substrate as i havent use it, its probably does not have PH buffering capabilities as PH is at a high of 8. But still no lost in fishes, just green and cloudy water.

Tank is 2FT with 216w is about mid 2.8w per gallon.

Green water could be algae but your lights showed no problems, problem may lie with co2, how is the circulation ? Do you have a PH dropchecker and at what photoperiod is it green/optimum? Cloudy water could be due to either substrate or Bacteria bloom?

Could the 2FT experts advise? I have only pinpointed this 2 areas only.

At the moment, i set my CO2 to be around 1-2 bubble per seconds, and for period of 6 hours each day.

I dont have any pH droplet detector. Any other reason why my pH is high? Any method to reduce it?

Today i went to an aquarium shop. I told him my problem and he recommended me to buy BIOYZYME FORMULA 100. the product is said anti algae, and anti green water. Anyone ever use this product before?

Could be the rocks you are using that is cusing high pH.

As for the cloudy water, maybe due to your filter, given you just washed it. Not sure how you did that.

    Cheers, Christophe

Christophe, do you mean that i should remove my rocks? Is all the rocks will cause high pH?
