Hottonia inflata - pictures in situ

Have I got a treat for you! I got permission from the author to post these pictures of Hottonia inflata taken in situ and growing emersed, and flowering! even in their native habitat it is considered a rare plant.

any one has Hottonia growing in their aquarium? I mean growing nice and lush not a few spindly stalks

There is no reference to how big the plant is. It looks huge compared to how they usually grow in our tanks. Am rather surprised that they do not grow out of the water to get atmospheric CO2. Is there some selective advantage for them not to do so?

I thought they look like asparagus in the first pic and the leaves looked like roots.

I guess you can reference it to the dead leaves in the water, those are probably no bigger than a ketapang leaf.

These are not the forms found in our aquariums anyway.. thats why i said a long time ago that no one probably has H.inflata in their aquariums and all we have are actually H.palustris... but people still keep calling them H.inflata.... i can't imagine growing these in a 2feet tank.
