    hello everyone,

would like to ask if any knows what are those tiny white spots jumping around and there are also these tiny mirco worms swimming around?

Are these stuff of any harm to fish and plant?
what are these stuff and why is it there?
    what causes it?

    Feeling lost already!!!

    hope someone can help me

    Thanks a million

    rule of thumb
if it's not on the fish, odds are it's not a parasite

small whitish/translucent dots moving about in a jerky fashion? and wriggling worms that are nearly transparent?
    both are harmless
when your tank gets established you won't see them that much
especially if you have small fish
they apparently like to eat those things

    new tank?

    Thanks for replying kind moderator,

Rather new set up around 2 months during the no fish period I use to see a lot but after introducing fish I mostly see them when I switch off my canistor filter to change 25% of the water and when I switch on the filter there will be some white big piece stuff and the micro worms can be seen too. I have totally washed the rubber pipes and bio filter stuff before using. Using ceramic rings and ammorite. and sponges.

I am afraid these stuff are harmfull to the fish cause I heard two stories one saying it is bacteria and the fish will eat it up BUT the other story says that the micro worms will crawl on to the fish and thats too late??

Hope to find answers from all the experienced kind souls.

    Thanks a million

    they're not infusoria
infusoria are too small for you to see
the small things hopping around should be some kind of copepod or something liddat
the worms are some kind of nematodes
    both are harmless
and your fish will eat them unless the fish are very big, in which case they'll be ignored

    Thanks charles and DEA,

Glad to hear that it is harmless... I'll just monitor my fish to see if they die without any reason.

    Thanks a million

    Cheers[]
