I like the first one for its good fin flare. third one might be good too if you can fix the WB.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Wah Richard, your shots are getting better!

I like #01 too. If there was some space from the edge, it will be even better.
#03 must have been a pain to shoot.
The betta will look spectacular if you could set it up in a photo tank with plants as background.

    choy,
Thanks, #1 also my favorite. Yes pity about no.3 WB, too bad shot in jpeg, can't fix the WB.

    ck,
Thanks. Agree with you more space at the edge would be great, but I was using the 100mm marco, a bit hard to maneuver. Yes the fry is really hard to shoot as the tank was on the floor, got to prone.

benetay, thanks. will be shooting more. Just got the OK to shoot at my neighbourhood lfs, no need to buy fish to shoot!

    magic4lifz,
Thanks. Lamprologus signatus are Tanganyikan cichlids

    Wah Richard,
Major improvement. Love the first and third shots - especially the repost by CK.

    Luenny,
Thanks, I feel shooting fish is much harder than butterflies.
Got to get lots of practice to improve.

    Nice!

Richard, may I know how many flash guns you triggered and their placing?

    Maurice,
Pictures 1-3, 2 x 420ex on top of the tank, set to slave and a 550ex set to master mounted on the 20D. All diffused. Forgot to bring my ST-E2
Picture 4, 550ex on top and 2x420ex at the sides. Trigger by ST-E2
    Total 3 flash guns used.

I think you need quite a few to take pictures of your planted tank.
I tried taking a 4ft planted tank with 3 flash on top, still quite dark at f5.6.
Have to open aperture to f2.8 to get sufficient light.

Wah... nice leh richard... the first one the tail crop try not so close to the boarder.

As for shooting a 4ft... it would be better if you shoot with more than 3 flash guns... my 2ft already using 2 flash guns..and sometimes even 3 or 4 counting in the fill flash.. so i think 4 feet... depending on what you want to shoot and the mood...should be using at least about 6-8 flashes counting in fill flash as well.

    ranmasatome,
Thanks. That picture wasn't cropped, I was standing too close with my 100mm macro, no time to move back, just shoot when I see a good flare.

Maurice, I think ranmasatome just answered your question. 6-8 flash guns!!
Too costly for me to shoot planted tank. Think I'll stick to my 3 flash and shoot fish
    in small tanks

Good to be in a community that share stuff around. I don't think many can afford to own 6-8 flashes unless you are a pro

I have only a 420EX and bought a used 550EX but the latter has a problem in that the H mode is spoilt and cannot fire fast

Good for ranmasatome to bring it up.

just pm me. I got 1x550ex and 2x420ex.

Fabulous and thank you for the kind gesture, Robert. I will call you once my tank is ready and most probably, I will need just one 550EX (that has a high speed mode)
