Just to share.... my classic filter has been running from 1991 till date. no maintaince was done at all, hope that it still keeps going.....
Thanks man it works!
Only difference is I kept my old O-ring...in fact only 2 years young.
I also clean up the slim accumulated in the inner ring.
My first O-ring lasted only 4 years and I thought that was bad. It is getting worse!
Maybe we should bill Eheim for the damages caused by the flooding!

Good thread! Now my 2028 is leaking. I have two 2028s. I did a swap. The 2028 A is still leaking after I swapped with 2028 B. The only thing not swapped is the connecting valve to the piping. I suspect it is the smaller o-ring in the detachable valve . Very tedious. Spend my Sunday playing with canister filters.

It might be the red o-ring in the pump assembly area, the one for the priming button thingy.
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.

Hi BFG, how are you?
I swapped the whole canister, including pump head, of 2028 B & 2028 A. B and A piping (include detachable valve) remains. 2028 A still leak. therefore, I rule out anything on the pump assembly area.
2028 A is for tank A
2028 B is for tank B

Thank JS. I will change the small O-ring first because it is less costly than the valve.

hi Colin, i meant since you have 2 units of 2028, you might want to swap the connection of the good connecting valve to the leaking cannister to confirm whether it is due to the connecting valve not the o-ring before you purchase the connecting valve or o-ring to replace.

I'm fine, thanks for asking Colin!
I hope it's not the red o-ring otherwise it's going to be a long journey for you to make to head to Qian Hu. If you're heading there, might as well take the 2nd 2028 too for servicing. This red o-ring is located inside the pump head, which is sealed by a few screw.

Yo guys! It seem like adjustable valve to me. I changed the o ring ($4.80) and still sipping H2O.
Too troublesome to pull out piping. I will have to cut it after pulling out because the initial part would have been expanded over a period of time. My tanks are easily 5 years old. I seldom touch the filter unless for annual wash.
