Woah!! Got standard man! But the ratio seems a bit odd. Not 3:2?

Anyway, if you can, get a top view too. Very useful for identification.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

3:2? I'm lost here. I tried to center the fish in the picture actually, but by doing so, the bottom of the picture is showing alot unfocused gravel.

I'm now thinking how to take a natural looking top view without the showing the container. But problem is, these guys always dart for the corner of the container.

Thats also the reason why it took me weeks to nail this shot. I only recently notice him coming out more often to the sweet spot i created. Also, i baited him with a little food to the spot.

Wow... very nice! Was this the one I saw you buying at C328?

I'm planning to get some pleco too... Bought a small L30 Peppermint Pleco form Polyart two weeks back, but unfortunately it die even before touching my tank water...

    Nice!!!
Did you have to resort to "tactics" to make it flare?

No tactics involved to make him flare. I was just damn lucky to catch him fully extended. Mervin, this is not the one i picked when you were there. That was a L129.

When I was doing photo ID shots of my zebras getting them to flare was a real pain!
I finally resorted to using a chopstick.
Basically when relaxed their dorsalfins are down.
But once I put the chopstick in the water the dorsal will rise.
However everytime I removed the chopstick it went back to the neutral position...
If I had a tripod then it would have been much easier...

, i think there are 3 ways to make them flare.

    1) When they feel comfortable in the environment
    2) When they are on alert mode
    3) When they feel pissed

I'm curious benny. What is 3:2? Are your referring to the composition?

3:2 refers to the aspect ratio of the image, i.e. the length against the width should be in 3:2 ratio.

This guy was shot in a bare breeder box. Fish was shot at an angle hence the reflection.
