Confirm eat endlers fries, unless you have a "vegeterian Discus" ? LoL.
Dear all,
I am deciding whether to keep some discus in my planted tank at the moment.. Appreciate if anyone can share some experiences as to whether discus eat up endlers fries or chase them around? Need to know as I want to breed the endlers and therefore do not want to stress them too much..

Actually, discus are milder than angelfish. So should be safe with endlers (not sure about their babies, though) and tetras. I have personally kept discuss with tetras. I don't see the discus hunting the tetras. Different story with angelfish which even hunt down my Harlequin Rasboras.
See this famous and beautiful aquascape from Amano of discus and rummy-nose tetras.

Wild discus tend to be more aggressive. IME, discus if put in a tank with small fishes would definitely gulp a few especially if they're bite size.
They will normally give up on fast swimmers.
The more vulnerable ones tend to be B. maculatus and similar sized ones. I've never seen them hunt endlers/guppies because of the water level they like to hand out in. They would definitely eat baby fish-confirmed!

My discus are quite peaceful, they don't chase any other fishes ( platy, tetras, rasboras, guppies, pencil fish, OTOs) other than their own species.
Maybe if you provide them with enough space to swim around, it should do fine.
