    thanks issac

finally they are coming back with their original names...perhaps the "texas luohan bubble" had burst.

ironic though, for just a while back, pure texas are being sold at Luohan prices. Now certain (not all) shops sell hybrids with Texas name at Texas prices.

no dumb questions in the world, only dumb answers! (quote the great Mez)

the texas we are talking abt here is cichlasoma (herichthys) carpinte. it is called the "pearlscale texas" or "blue texas"

the "original texas" is Cichlasoma (herichthys) cyanoguttatum

    both exist at northeast mexico.
the cyanoguttatum is the northernmost member of the cichlasoma genus. it is the only member that is native to USA. Texas, to be exact, thus its name. Carpinte is not found as far north.

otherwise they are close and similar species.

I got 6 of them from a fishfarm in Lor Halus many months back.

They were 2" then and all mixed together with some juvenile midas, GTs', rainbow cichlids, convicts and jewels. The owner regarded them as "japalang" fishes when they arrived together with the rest of the LHs'...so sad that these pple only see short-term gains. I saw these little beauties going for $2/pcs and quickly grapped a few pcs of JDs', some rainbows' and 1 midas.[]

As the JDs' are very rare, I will be keeping them for myself. You can try Jason's shop if you are interested.[:] I am always going around in my car to some of these fishfarms to check on their stocks, will update you guys if there are anything other than LHs.

Well, you guys seem to be able to get pretty much everything fish-wise in Singapore, and over here in England we are quite limited to what we can get...
