    Bros,

Have a few questions about FL Lights :

    1) 1' fL Light sufficient for 1" tank planted tank? (Moss, Nana, Fisidan)
    2) Does color of the light makes any diff? (Pinkish vs white)
    3) When buying replacement, can i buy off the shelf from normal lighting shop or I have to buy from LFS?
    4) With regards to Q3, those FL light that we used, are they normal household fl light tube or specialised fl light?

    Thanks

    1. I would think so.
    2. To what? Growth, not really. How it looks to your eye, yes. The plants will grow anyway. Intensity is more important than colour temperature.
    3. Yes.
    4. Depends on what you prefer. Household tube works great at a fraction of the price of specialised tubes.

    Bro,

the reason for asking is because I found a 1' Fl light in my store and didn't know that i've this light and am thinking of using on my new 1' planted tank. The color is pinkish/purpish in color... thats why don't know how many wattage and don't know if it's suitable for planted tank.

If thats the case, do i need to change the tube to those normal white household tube? Thanks

Bro i think u can get the Fl tubes that are more suitable for plants use in most of the LFS. There is some description on the package to describe the spectrum the plant needs versus the spectrum that the tubes produce. Hope this helps.

hi bro, 1' FL light is sufficient for low tech plants in the 1 feet tank, however it might not be sufficient for fissidens, and depends on which type of mosses you're referring to.

    2. Colour of light i supposed you're referring to the different spectrums of light emitted. If so, the answer is yes, best to get a tube with a good Colour Rendering Index with kelvin range from 6.5k to 8k.

    3. I supposed fish and lighting shops carry same tubes, pricing wise it might be cheaper in lighting shops though.

    hope it helps
