    Hi everyone,

Would like to ask if any one knows if lamp/blue eyes are live bearers or egg layers. Cause just found five baby fries in my tank.

Anyway how does one take real good care of the fries. I have taken them out as I have puffers and shrimps in there seems kind of a dangerous to the fries.

Which kind of food is best for them?

Thank you hope to here from all of you

    Thanks again

    Hi

Well, based on my expereince with benetay. He taught me when rearin fries. Liquid food by Jbl is very good for fries especially, cause their mouth so tiny. Liq food is best for them.

Another alternative, cheaper of course. Coz ah, liq food quite ex. But u can get them at A.Moaes shop. BIOTOPE. all AQ members wil get 10 or 5% off !! And we're sellin liq food too.

Oh ya. i was about to say. brine shrimp. its also a good source of food for fries. Im sure u knw where to get them lah. BEst price arnd sg i not sure. But i only know C328 stocks them. Try givin them a call on whether they have stock to avoid disappointment. Well, if u find it inconvenient to fly all da way down to c328. Cn alwaes hatch yr own baby brine shrimp by juz buyin the eggs. They do sell it.

Dry form la. U try searchin in yahoo or check out Aq's database. SHld have info on how to hatch it, heardin frm frens. the affair is really tedious, but its good experience. i persoanlly nvr try b4 all this im tellin u nw. all this learnt frm ppl. becoz my apistos hasn't breed lor. well. i guess tats abt it for my long story.

hope this helps la. anything can pm me back ya.

    see ya sims !
    Thanks & Regards,
    Trevor

hi sims, i had an accidential spawning of my lampeyes.
i could only find 1 fry so i assumed the others were eaten up.
i couldnt find any liquid fry in the LFS so i just fed it crushed up flakes, as fine as powder.
it began to eat so i just continued feeding it crushed flakes. took nearly 3 months for it to become an adult

Maybe can also buy daphnia for to put inside your tank. They baby daphnia are probably small enough to be eaten. They're freshwater, so they'll stay alive longer than baby brineshrimp

Also, most of the betta shops sell live daphnia.
Once they're big enough, you might even want to try frozen daphnia

Lamp eys breed in community tank? That is great. I will keep more of them in future.

Are we talking about those with white-greyish one with blue shining eyes?

    Kc,

    Yup those blue eye fishes.

Mine bred twice but unfortunately the first time I saw only one fry and it died of soon. My second time with five are surviving well hope it grows up nice and healthy after three months as said by cardinal tetra.

    Good luck

Found two more baby fry in my tank.

Took them out along side my other five hope they survive well.

Having some tell tale signs when there are frys or eggs
    1) Puffers scan the bottom or top for eggs and frys.
    2) My ram seems to scan the bottom too.

Cheers all those having frys of any kind.

If you want fry in large numbers, take out the fish and put them into a small tank with plenty of java moss. Leave them in the tank for 24 hours and remove the fish. After 2 days, you should be able to see many fry.

By the way, Liquidfry is not a fish food. How can fish eat something that is liquid? What Liquidfry does is it promotes infusoria, a collective name for micro-organisms that exists naturally in water. In ponds, infusoria exists in large numbers. In our tanks, the infusoria is there too but there's not enough of them to feed the fry.

An alternative fry food is vinegar eels. I'm very surprised that no one has taken up my free offer of the eels on my website at www.killies.com

    Hi Sims,

Those eels are very tiny. But a bit troublesome to harvest. Why not try to hatch brine shrimp for your frys.

I've been very successful for my ram. I lost less then 5% of the frys and they're now about 6 to 7mm.

As for how th hatch brine shrimp, check it out at www.killies.com. Mr Loh has a very exhaustive description of how to hatch brine shrimp.
