hi guys.. first time keeping bigger type of fish..

tank size only 2ft tank though.. keeping 3, 3 - 4 inch channa bleheri inside.. just release them into the tank few hours ago..

here are some pictures taken few minutes after they are released into the tank.
    still in the bag..

after a few hours of acclimitizing, finally they are ready to be released into their home..

    cute!

    hiding with head out.

    he/she looks comfortable..

    look at the redness!

anyway.. heres the tank specially set-up for them..

Feel free to comments and discuss anything about channa bleheri here..
all bleheri keppers check in too!

Edit : have decided to remove the bush fish.. since one of the channa was eating on 1.. guess it was a mistake to comm them together.. will be giving away the other 2..
any idea what i can comm them with?

nothing, any fish that can comm with them in that tank setup will probably be fish food once the snakehead get bigger or it becomes fish food for the other fish that might grow bigger and faster.

    Hi,

Excuse my ignorance but they sure look like the common snakeheads you see in our reservoirs and wet markets.

Are they from the same family?

They are from the snakehead (Channa) family, the common snakeheads are different species.

If they of the same family as the common snakehead, then what size will they grow ultimately?

I have seen Toman aka Siam Rui aka Thai snakehead which can grow up to more than 1m!

Hope this channa bleheri does not grow that big else may need a pond to rear them eventually

Just Googled and found out this species is considered a dwarf snakehead favoured by aquarists and they grow up to 20cm.

As such, I think EvolutionZ's your 2ft tank is good enough

yea those are dwarf snakehead. they don't grow to 20cm in aquarium.. 5 - 6 inch considered max size.

Old thread, but you can find them for sale at C328, or any other LFS that deals with predatory fishes. Prices, I cannot say. Visit the shops if you really want to know.
