ok erm guy and ladies in the marine section.

    I've have a 5plan 2feet by 1feet by 1feet tank. Currently inside I have around

2-3 inches of coral sand +/- grade 1 inside. Just washed only. The tank is not

filled currently but I would like to know what kind of equipments and brand I

    should get.

Equipments and accessories I have currently are:

    2feet by 1feet by 1feet tank.

    Red Sea Salt app. 2kg

    Tetratest Nitrate and Kh.

    Nutrafin Aquaplus.

I know I need a wavemaker but i dunno the size and app. market price and

recommended brands. I know I need liverocks to aid in the starting stage of

    cycling.

The stocking plans for this tank are mainly FOWLR. Fishes will only be limited

to a pair of clownfisha and maybe some gobies. I really want firefish but my tank would be a open top

and they've been known to jump tanks so I'm slightly withdrawn from it for

now. The rest of the inhabitants would be mainly invertebrates like cleaner

shrimps, sexy shrimps, crabs, hermit crabs. No corals for now as I'm going to

serve the nation soon and corals would require more intensive care on the

tank. I'll add them after my ns though. Need to read up more on coral

keeping first also. So people, please help guide me. Thanks

Yeah Jireh is alright, but can be expensive. There's another shop along Lavender and a coral farm in LCK and Pasir Ris too.

You might also want to read The Nano Reef Handbook. Very useful guide.

how much does that books costs? Cause im Farmilia about the cycling stage

and the live rocks and sand usage plus the skimmer fuctions. the rest Im still

abit not here and there. Species information im pretty clear as i can do

research pretty easily. It's the mental wall and financial wall that's holding me

back from going all out. So i need some poision attack. LOL

You need a few things more from what you have listed in your equipment list.

You need lights. Since you're not keeping corals for now, I'd suggest simple T5HOs. But that's not to say you can't keep corals with T5HOs, I've successfully kept SPS with 6tubes in a 24"x20".

If FOWLR, you can probably save on a chiller, as long as your temperature doesn't exceed 30.

For a FOWLR tank, no need turbo flow, I'd suggest a simple Koralia Nano. Or 2 at the very most.

Take your time to cycle the tank, go through the ANN cycle properly. You might want to consider dosing things like iodine to speed up growth of coralline algae. You're right in saying that Live Rocks aid in cycling the tank, it helps in biological filtration, but obviously, rocks along won't be enough.

Marine tanks, as opposed to FW tanks, will benefit from a sump tank. Suggest you consider an external overflow into a sump, or a IOS. Jireh (not my favorite place ) does have a quick start system that should be enough to filter your 2x1x1 without a sump. Go have a look.

thanks for your input dude But I've made up my mind and decided to save

up and go all out for a 2feet cube with sump. I've gottem quotations from

tank makers in arofanatics. So all that's left are just time, money and more

Nice. I started my 2ft cube sumpless as well, but rapidly upgraded. You probably save more money going for the full setup in the first place. And an internal overflow is always easier to manage and less risky than an external overflow box.

The tank might bow from the heavier water.
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.

so the shortform for a internal overflow is ios? and a external overflow is eos?

cause i see the tanjk labels by tank makers have sometimes like eos, ios, ious

and that makes me get very grrrr.
