Nice flowers, do you think if the 100mm macro can do better since the working distance is nearer?

    Cheers!

no, since it is still 1:1, I think I need some extension tubes or the MPE-65

remember in another thread I was asking why smaller fish should use longer lens (I did not say that, I was asking why people said that). remember working distance has got nothing to do with magnification, the moment the focal length is not constant.

the answer "no" does not help in developing critical thinking and deduction from first principles

KF, yes. They all belong to the carnivorus or Insectivore family of plants

So working distance got nothing to do with magnification but isn't it simpler using a 100mm(lighter, don't have to stand further) since it's at home?

    Just a thought

subject distance AT A GIVEN FOCAL LENGTH determines the magnification. the nearer you get to the subject, the greater the magnification. that is why a 100mm macro vs a "normal" 100mm lens, the macro lens can produce higher magnification because it is designed to allow the lens to focus at much shorter subject distance. a normal 100mm lens will not be able to focus and hence cannot produce a "macro" picture.

And I just noticed you used a covered container as a base for the pot. Ingenious! That will pevent excessive evaporation and mosquito breeding too!

I used to keep some venus fly trap bought from the 1st Garden Festival. Died after a while.

I copied that idea from the plants I bought from a nursery. Been making them myself. You need to give lot of sunlight to the VFT, or else I wouldn't be blasting mine with so many light tubes
