    Hi,
the first pic looks like HC to me as well, for the second pic.. I am guessing that it might be one of the Rotala species.

    Cheers!

ouch, that means the hc won't last long i think... my tank has no co2, 2.4wpg, temp 27<x<30. btw (a bit off), does the wpg rule apply for a 1.5x1X1 ft tank? if not, how does 24watts work out for those 10 gallons?

1st one look like HC. WPG does not apply for 1.5ft tank. If you click the link below and go toward the end, you can enter your tank size, 10G, and you will get 65Watts

that's quite crazy! a 1 gallon tank would require 23 watts of light according to the calculator!!!

yeah it does look crazy , it based on the data sample from Amano book.

This Amano difference was also noted and examined in 1998 by Erik Olson of "The Krib" web site in an article entitled "Lighting Level: What's Ideal."3 He wrote that "For the smallest sizes, 8 watts per gallon is too little! For the larger tanks above 100 gallons, 2 watts per gallon is too much.
Which I tend to agree, in my experience, I can only grow limited spicies of plant in 30x18x20cm tank with 9W light (3WPG).

that's mind boggling because there's a limit as to how many lights u can fix over small tanks. if u put 24w over a 1.5x1x1 i dun see how the wpg would decrease as the volume increases. anyways ill see how it all works out. it'll be a miracle if the hc doesnt melt....
