Salt treatment on riccia

Hi Guys

Need your help. Will it kill the plant if i soak it in high salinity water for 15 mins?

I did that yesterday so as to kill any bact from my old tank. This mrg, when i woke up, the new tank is very cloudy.

Now my Q is Is the plants dead? If so, will want to throw them awy so tht i can start all over agn! (Hate to do that, placing the riccia on the netting)

However, to clear the water up, i have turn on my UV lights now.

never tried it with riccia
but i would say leave it there and wait for it to grow
no point renetting until you're sure it's dead

If that is the case, any explanation as to why the water turned cloudy??

Its definitely not dust particles cos the water was clear before i went to bed.

the bacteria that does your biological filtration isn't just in your filter
you could have inadvertently caused some bacteria on the plants to die and provide food for other water borne bacteria
