Just curious, how to keep your water pH as low as 5?

The substrate helps. Using ADA Amazonia...

Can try rummy nose. They school very nicely and if the water condition is good, their noses will turn bright chilli red.

When you buy rummy nose from LFS, they will look dull and colourless except for their silvery bodies. But if you put it back in your well lit tank..then the colours will stand out.

For a small tank, the size of the fish is important too. It should not be too big.
I would recommend a school of lampeyes or any species of boraras.

    My 2 cents
