    Hi,
When you shoot nature photographs, what is your intention? Do you want to create art? Or do you want to record what is going on? Just want to see what people here think.

for photo documentation, it is a representation of the subject, and hence it is also smack dead centre and as much DOF/sharpness as possible. when portraying a nature subject, then I try to exercise creativity in the composition, their poses and DOF control.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

certainly not art for me. I'll try to get my shots as sharp as possible and try to inject some creativity into it. But mostly for my own pleasure.

If it's not art, why do you need to inject creativity?

For me, it's mainly to create art. This means, composition becomes very important, flat lighting is not a necessity and sharpness is expendable. The picture on the whole is more important than the subject.
