Know frm farmer that Earthworm is good for the soil and plants.

So wonder if anyone try tubifex worms for better substrate & Plants?

Don't bother if its Black cats or White cats, so long as it can catch Rats. Its a Good Cat.

Tubifex worms are bad news cos they contain all sorts of nasties and parasites. Blood worms from reliable sources would be a safer bet.

I suggest you try malayan trumpet snails instead. tubifex are just not clean.

roy, i believe he's talking about using tubifex to turn the earth

i don't think this will work
    earthworms burrow in soil
our tanks use gravel, which is very heavy
secondly, i think they will die from lack of oxygen in the substrate
more often than not they'll be on the surface of the gravel

    i go with MTS

I have seen one escaped Tubifex worm in my tank burrowed out of the substrate. And this individual has grown fatter and longer.
But Malayan Trumpet Snails are better at burrowing the substrate.

Hey, this is new to me! How do MTS and worms help in the substrate for a planted tank?

MTS prevents the substrate to be too compact. So roots have better growth.
I also believe what dead leaves they ate at the surface, they poop in the substrate and so add free fertiliser.

I believe that burrowing snails or worms will help the substrate and prevent the roots from turning black and also help it getting the air bubble out of substrate... [:]

So where can I get MTS or apple snails or flower snails? [:]

    it's not 'burrowing'
it's crawling in between the crevices
and it will die before long, much less talk about reproduce
i saw this happen in bioplast's 6ft tank
quite disturbing, to say the least

I also doubt the effectiveness of MTS. Basically, MTS will not burrow deep, simply because there is no O2 there for it to survive.
