    Hi,

I am curious! I have a 10 gallon planted tanks with several guppies, neon tetras, 1 Cory cat, Chinese algae eater and 1 molly.

In that tank, I have quite a bit of Java ferns on wood and a long stretch of Spiky Moss..

Therefore, I am wondering if I do need to add CO2 Tablets once in awhile... I dun wanna buy those huge CO2 diffuser or something. But I do want my moss to grow quickly and healthily..

What do you think or suggest ?

I have previously used CO2 tablets before (in a shrimp tank), have not seen any side effects. My moss was growing pretty well when I was using those. The only thing is the residue that was left over, you will have to clear it up (maybe was the brand I was using that has residue, not sure about the rest). But, by far, it has been pretty okay for me at least.

Seachem excel is a better choice than CO2 tablet.

If you have not tried DIY CO2, can give a shot.

The Co2 tablet will cost even more than seachem excel. Personally, I dont think they work well, use seachem, better choice.

I know. DIY CO2 is quite troublesome.

Invest in a compressed CO2. If used properly, a 2L cylinder can last more than a year for your tank size. If you give up hobby, the CO2 system still have resale value.

Without CO2 injection, your moss and ferns can also grow slow and steady. No worries at all either.

    Cheers!

It depends on what you grow, your lights, base fertiliser if any... A lot of factors , If you want a general liquid fert, can try seachem comprehensive.

Generally to grow moss faster, a constant supply of CO 2 is better.

Ha! Ha! True, just get what you need now based on the plants (what they need) you already have (or any other plants which you may intend to plant in your tank in the near future...) No point getting stuffs you have no use for & then have to resell it later...

Think Seachem's Excel should suffice for your tank/plants. You may wish to get Seachem's Prime too as it helps to reduce ammonia & even chloramine/chlorine in the water (if I'm not wrong... )

    Cheers!

Why not invest in an electronic CO2 diffuser. It works like CO2 tablet and you will need good circulation of water to bring the CO2 to the other parts of the tank.

Have you try it? If you do a search on this, you'll find it created more problems than helping. Is still cheaper if you use canister CO2 in the long run, even if you dont use solenoid canister, it dont cost much also.
