Yesterday I bought 5 badids. I meant to get Badis sp. "Buxar" (2 males and 3 females), but one is certainly different.
Also it's hard for me at this moment to see the difference between males and females.
    Can you help?

    Badis sp. "Buxar" male?

    Female?

    Female?

Quite hard to tell as I think some are still in stress mode. Wild guess would be:

    1. Male
    2. Not sure
    3. Female
    4. Not sure

Allow them a few more days to settle down a bit, with good food provided and it may be clearer.

What is certain though is that the last fish is certainly not the same fish. Agree that it is probably B assamensis.

Your tank just looks wonderfully suited for them with lots of plants cover.

    Update buxar tank:

The buxars are doing great. The dominant male often guards his coconut, but all the fishes are getting along very well.

    dominant buxar male

    other male

    little female

    bigger female

    Wow,

Really love the tank as good as any hi-tech planted tank. I prefer a more naturalistic looking tank that one thats been prunned to 'perfection' you using CO2?

Fish aint bad either, two of my fovourite fish - Badis and Parambassis lala.

Beautiful fish you have there, I love badis fish. The picture could be a possible badis assamensis or a badis blosyrus, does anyone know how to actually tell the difference between the two? Its always hard to tell those apart, even with them side by side
