Yes it is BUT you need to maintain or trim it regularly. If not the one under which is suppose to stick to the wood will die due to lack of light. If it is die than nothing will hold it to the wood.
I have this burning question and apparently alot of people have been asking too but answered with varying results.
Does moss actually really stick to the driftwood? Those coarse type? Haha lest i regret and start retying the dw over and over again. Or most of us simply tie it and wait for it to grow over the threads.

yeah you got to trim it regularly, alternativelt make sure the threads are short when you tie it on, ensures that the original threads get light when it grows longer
Retie?
I am curious. If I trim it, i have to take it out of the tank. But once I remove, all the debris will be scattered all over the tank again.
Any tips on that?
wet the moss, placed it on the dw thinly. soak partially in water, makin sure the sides of moss touches water. best to cover the container air tight so as to let the moisture trapped within. check day by day till mosses grasp hold of ur dw. have tried this with a small dw before n is a success.
happy trying.
cheers!!
when theres any doubt, theres no doubt...
well it even better if you have extra hand to suck the cutted moss while you are cutting.
Serious lah! As one plant farm uncle puts it: 'Just trim like "cutting hair liddat"!'
