Should be OK. Most sites have quoted that they prefer temperatures from 20C to 26C. Eg. http://freshaquarium.about.com/cs/ca...otocinclus.htm
i have a 1ft tank with a temp of 20degrees.
my oto is the only algae eater inside, but i seem to see him not so active.
will he be able to survive in this temperature, as i think it may be good for my downoi or gujing.
my tank is in an aircon room with overhead fan blowing.
if oto is not suitable at this temp, can pl suggest an alternative for algae cleaning.
thnks

Keeping fish as pets can be a rewarding hobby.
Designing and maintaining your aquariums is a wonderful creative outlet.
Watching your fish swim around is both relaxing and fun.
Mine is also at 23 degree and they just doing fine
my tank is 20 deg, but the oto seems a bit inactive since the temp dropped from 23.
he is the only fella there unfortunately.
am thinking of adding some shrimps, probably cherry or malayan shrimps to eat the algae as i have increased my light to 55w from 36w and my tank is only 1ft.
I suggest you turn off the fan.
methinks 20 is a tad too low. 23-25 is a good range.
Mine used to be very active when I set the temperature at 28C. But ever since I tune it to 24C, their activities seems to slow down quite a bit. Sometimes I didn't even see a single piece out of a group of 9.
hi bro,
i think 24-27 is good for shrimp and oto. etc....
please advise .
Ya.. i think 20 deg is too low..
for my oto ,I think is also too low, as I noticed the change of activity, but for the sake of my plants (gujing and downoi), i will choose the plants, no choice.
but who is going to clean the algae?
i have added some sakura shrimps. they seem to like the low temp, but do they really clean the algae, or only the hair algae, and not those growing on the glass.
thanks.
