    Hi everyone

I've just been taking some photos of my killies. I would hotlink them but I don't think Geocities allows it.

    Tom,

I can't see your pictures too. This is the message that keeps popping up:

"The image cannot be displayed, because it contains errors."

If you have problems linking the pictures to this forum, send them to me through email and I will post them up for you.

    I couldn't access it either Tom, but would be very keen to receive higher res pics via email of your Aphyosemions;

Aphyosemion bitaeniatum 47KM North Lagos - Ibadan, Male & Female
    Aphyosemion elberti Nanga Eboko
    Aphyosemion riggenbachi Yellow

Alternatively, register a new account at http://www.angelfire.com which gives you a generous 20MB. You can then upload or hot-link those pics from there.

Give it a try... I like it albeit for the bandwidth quota.

I am able to view the pictures as it is, when the thread were first posted and also now.

For SG forummers, just to share that I'm on Starhub cable - not sure whether it makes a difference or not.

    BTW, Tom, nice pics.

    Tom,

The pictures are lovely. I like your Aphyosemion elberti Nanga Eboko very much. What can I do to get some of their eggs?

    Loh K L,

I've always had trouble getting eggs from the elberti. I think it could be something to do with the reasonably high temperature. I only really mangaged to breed them well enough when I first set up the fish room and it was only the killie tanks in there and the temp didn't go above about 19degC. I'll be trying again soon. I have 1 mature pair and 6 young (5m 1f). Apparently they take a long time to mature so I don't know when I'll get eggs from the young fish. When I do you'll be the first to know.

    Tom,
Thanks for all those pictures! Enjoyed them... Now I must get busy so I can share mine.
The Aphy. elberti needs to be 6 to 9 months in age before they spawn.I have read where they are harder to raise than your other Aphyosemion's. The Aphy. striatums that I have are a good 6 months in age before they start to spawn but when they start... look out!

    Hi Tom,

Nice fish, I particularly like the N. korthausae Mafia Island TAN 02-5. One of the nicest strain among the KOR.

I had ever maintained the yellow strain from Loh, It is quite special too. This fish look very much the same as the N. korthausae Kwachepa TZL 53-01, except the whole fish is yellow. Too bad, no females.

The N korthausae Kwachepa TZL 53-01 is also quite special, it has very yellow finage with very slight red on it body. I have given up on this species.

The N sp aff. Korthausae Kwachepa TZL 53-01 is quite different from the fish above. It is quite similar to the yellow strain except it much larger in term of size. I was very honored to own this F2 fish! However i am not maintaining them now.

Wow I didn’t realize that I had ever maintained 4 KOR species before! As you notice, though they are of the same species, the appearances of the fish are very different, thus effort to maintain proper population and collection codes is rather important if you are distributing the fish!

    Thanks everyone for the comments.

Siameng, I didn't realise the Kwachepa KOR were two different types. I thought the aff. label had just been missed out when some people wrote it. I think my Mafia Island will be ready to breed in a few weeks, I can see eggs in some females but I like to wait til they get to a decent size before I put them in with the males.
    Regards
    Tom

Tom, I thought so too, When a good friend the fish to me, I thought it was the same, however when I place them together, the fish appears to be different in term on body shape, colours and finage. I guess the fish was collected at the time and same place, however the collectors notice that the fish were difference, thus a sp. aff. was added. This is just a guess why the collection codes are the same.
