    Just a question.

Anyone encounter adding fluorsih excel harms the fishes and shrimps?

Another forumer and I experienced some shrimp death while using Excel. I emailed flourish about it and they said they use it on their tanks in amounts above the instructions listed on the bottle and experience no shrimp deaths.

I'm inclined to believe them as they are a company of fairly good reputation.

On hindsight, the shrimp deaths I experienced could be due to pH change. I was using Excel as a stop-gap when my CO2 ran out. As I was busy, I could not get the tank topped up for a number of days and the pH change due to lack of CO2 could have killed my shrimps.

I can't speak for the other forumer.

I've been using Excel for months on a another tank that is was never CO2 injected, and my shrimps in there which have been with me over 2 yrs are still alive.

    No problems ever with fishes.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

    Am I "the other forumer"?

I have the same thinking as you, Vinz. I trust Seachem's reply that they have no problem with their shrimps.

But I have ceased to use Excel (Seachem's... not Microsoft's), therefore I do not have any further experience on effect on shrimps.

I do not experience any problems with fishes though.

There was some discusion on this in aquabotanic. I can't remember the outcome, but I think the thread started due to some concerns from people using flourish excel. Perhaps you could do a search on their webby?
