…and then today (day 10) it produces a second flower bud
just to share the growth of my red tiger lotus flower, it grew 40cm in 8 days…
here the two pics are taken an hour apart, it grew 1 cm in 1 hour

Choy,
It is true to say that plant flowers underwater is an unusual incident?
Sorry to say that I am a layman when come to botany.
You posting of fishes and plants is an inspiration to me to switch to digital photography. Time for me to catch up. I was using SLR until I exchanged it for an instantmatic one few years ago. Digital camera was not so popular then (3 years ago).
some plants will only flower when grown emersed, e.g. Cryptocoryne because they are not aquatic by nature. Some plants are marsh plants and will flower whether growing in water or not e.g. Echinodorus. Aquatic plants will flower when grown in water (well you can't grow fully-aquatic plants emersed!) but the flower will almost always be above water e.g. Cambomba and Nymphaea.

HW,
Nice pics. I noticed your water is very clear, is it always clear between water change? If yes, how do you achieve that?
Freddy, water usually always clear since the tank is planted and adequately filtered (Eheim 2222 for 25 gallons). Why? Are you having cloudy water?
