    Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has any information on where I could purchase some of the beautiful Christmas Moss,Mini Moss and Erect Moss that is featured a lot on this forum.

I have common Java Moss growing in my tanks at the moment and have tried various LFS but no one has even heard of these varieties of moss!.

    I live in Scotland, UK.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You

    Hi Andy

I have some Erect moss which KL sent me. I'm currently trying to get my conditions right to grow this plant well. I'll let you know when I've made some progress and can send you some.

I'm in the South West and I have only seen Java moss in the shops near me so your not alone.
    Regards
    Tom

Thank you very much for the offer of some Erect Moss when you are ready to harvest it.
Please let me know near the time any cost involved in sending it as I insist on covering any expenses incurred.

    Thanks
    Andy

    Andy,

Is Willow Moss available where you are? If it is, I will be delighted to trade Erect or Christmas moss for it. Another question - Does your Java Moss have capsules?

    KL,

Thank you for your reply. Sadly only Java Moss is available here in the UK, there seems to be no planted aquarium culture in this country.
Also I have never saw any capsules on my Java Moss.

I have to say since finding this site, the last time I felt as inspired about planted tanks was when I first discovered the work of Takashi Amano.

During our short summer months I plan on looking for some of Scotland’s native Mosses to see if any can adapt to an aquarium environment. Scotland is a very damp and wet place and has thousands of square miles of peat bogs that are covered in various mosses.I will let you know how I get on.

    Thanks for the inspiration

    Mervin,

Always be mindful of spelling when it comes to a country's name. Many people are proud of where they come from so they may not like it when you spell the name of their country wrongly.

    It should be Scotland.

A while ago Loh K L kindly sent me some erect moss, it's been growing well and I could certainly spare you some if you have not already received some from another source. If you send me your address I could send you some.
