    Re: Christmas moss

Yep, the cigar fish eats BBA.

You might also want to try the blackout method which Mr Loh recommends.

Other than what Lincoln pointed out, the other things that you might wish to look into is the tank parameters like:
    1) Water temperature - according to timebomb, cool water (below 28 degree) is the key to grow mosses.
    2) CO2 - it is the most important nutrients, keep it at 25~35 ppm
    3) Fertiliser - I solved/prevent BBA problem (on gravel) with extra doses of PO4 (1 ppm), together with the usual fertilisers

Yep, alage problems are very often caused by lack of CO2 and nutrients imbalance.

Are you currently dosing any liquid fert? Also, what is your KH,PH,amount of light and lighting hours?

    Derrick,

    Prior to blackout
If you wish to try the blackout method, dose 5~10ppm of KNO3 prior to that. Above that, stop CO2. Blackout 2~3 days.

    After blackout
    - change the water and suck out any algae you can catch.
    - start light on for 5~6 hrs for the first 3 days, then add nutrients and increase 0.5 hr a day till you get 8 hrs.
    - long term photo period recommended:8~9.5 hrs
