    Hi all,

Kindly comment on my tank. How I can improve?
    Thanks!

P.S. Kwek Leong, please ask your spouse for opinion too. She saw my tank twice but both during the initial setup time.

I would if I could, Freddy. But I can't see your pics excepf for the first 2 and then, only when I right-click and select "View Image". Tell you what, send the last 2 pics to me through private email and I will upload them for you.

But looking at the first 2, I would say there's little room for improvement. The tank is lovely. However, I have to say also that you're a disgrace to all of us here in Killies.com. Where are the Killies?

Wow Freddy, your Blyxa japonica really look lovely. How do you managed to grow it? I tried five times and failed five times. Looks like I can only enjoy the pictures, sigh.

strange, Blyxa japonica is a very easy to grow plant. Do you have CO2 injection and sufficient lights?
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

    Jason,

I have problm with Blyxa too in the beginning, they melted. I guess the followings help:
    1) proper CO2 level (25~35ppm / KH1~2, PH6.2~6.6)
    2) rich base fert (I use Horti tab and inject liquid fert into substrate)
    3) water temp (keep it below 29 degree celcius)
    4) add few pcs of coral chip to filter to provide additional calcium to water column.

Like most plants, light is not critical, Blyxa can live well with wide range of light intensities.

If you could measure, you would realise my Blyxa are huge (long and broad leafs). They are medium dark green.

You may get some from me if you wish to try again. I will thin them in about 3 weeks from now.

    Freddy,

I've replaced your pics by uploading them to my server. Did I tell you I normally charge $5 for uploading one pic? I'll send you the bill later .

My wife said your tank looks very neat. She thinks it's a reflection of the way you are; everything is in its right place and so tidy, quite unlike my tanks which are also a reflection of the way I am - Organised chaos.

    Hi Freddy,
The tank really looks different from the time I last saw it. And my goodness, I green with envy when I saw your B. japonica. Well, what else can I say about your tank...only one word..."WOW!"

And your Cuba Luwidgia seem to have improved a lot. How did you rectify the 'curled-tip' leaves?

    fazlee,

Please read the stickies, there are a few simple rules in this forum. Here in Killies.com, we distinguish ourselve from other forums in that:
    1) No "SMS" langauge or short-writing, proper English (not necessarily good) is encouraged.
    2) Use of real name. Please state your name at the end of the message.

We think since we are members of the forum, we should be write in normal/proper English and list down real name as a basic form of respect/polite to fellow readers.

Back your question, the foreground plant is Elatine Triandra which is easily available in fish shops. If you want, I have alot to spare. Message me if you need.

    Selwyn,

I discarded the curled leafs one, the rest are fine.
